Henry Wilson is a designer of furniture, lighting, accessories, and hardware in metal, stone, and glass. He founded Studio Henry Wilson in Sydney in 2012. His work leans towards utilitarianism, giving precedence to form and function, while still embracing intuition and feeling — the imperfect beauty that comes from objects made by hand, and in the creation of manufactured pieces that nevertheless retain a sense of individuality.

Wilson is committed to making objects that last, which has led him to foster long-term collaborations with select like-minded suppliers and manufacturers, including a local foundry. His work is heavily influenced by the Australian landscape, in its multiformity and in the singular qualities of its light. Nothing remains perfect in Australian conditions, and Wilson believes weathering is to be accepted and valued — even to the extent of introducing subtle imperfections during manufacture.
