Petra is a showroom for artistic hardware by visionary designers, founded by curator and Sight Unseen co-founder Monica Khemsurov.
Petra represents both select existing boutique hardware lines as well as exclusive, newly commissioned works by independent designers, all offered for sale both to consumers and trade professionals. The collection spans designer cabinet knobs, drawer pulls, door handles, switch plates, appliance handles, curtain tiebacks, towel bars, and more.

What sets Petra apart is a commitment to artistic hardware designs that, aesthetically and conceptually, are more expressive than most of the commercial, mass-manufactured lines that currently dominate the hardware market. Petra’s highly curated collection primarily comprises small-batch, handmade fixtures, and while it does include some elevated basics, the majority of its offerings could be considered statement pieces.

For years, Khemsurov has been fascinated by the striking hardware she’s seen on her travels — boldly sculptural handcrafted glass and metal door handles adorning 20th-century Art Deco and Modernist buildings in places like Italy, Belgium, Portugal, and Scandinavia — and part of Petra’s mission statement is to revive that tradition of attention to architectural detail and artistry.
