Description

Working under the studio moniker The Perfect Nothing Catalog, Frank Traynor meticulously hand-brazes various stones and shells to metal goods, elevating mundane everyday objects into rarified functional artworks. All of the stones used in Traynor's pieces are collected by him, from beaches or flea markets or gravel driveways, and all of the metal base objects are collected or reproduced from found objects. Each piece is available in two distinct metal patterns — smooth metal brazing, as seen here, and textured metal brazing — and the choice of stone colors and shells is randomly chosen by Traynor, so what you receive will not be exactly like what's pictured here (and not all plates will have shells).
