Civilian is a multidisciplinary Brooklyn design studio founded in 2018 by architects Nicko Elliott and Ksenia Kagner, under the belief that the quality of spatial design can elevate human capacity for expansive thought and empathy.

The pair's first hardware collection — Hemispheres, in collaboration with the Australian brand Bankston — reflects a shared ambition to elevate the ordinary. The name Hemispheres not only references a central dome motif within the range, but also symbolizes the collaboration’s global nature, with Civilian in the Northern Hemisphere and Bankston in the Southern Hemisphere.
